Hi, I'm Dave.
I work in healthcare IT and data, and I love turning messy real-world workflows into tools that people can actually use.
In CUH, I’ve delivered a lot of in-house, zero-cost solutions across BI, integration, reporting, and small web builds
where timing and reliability matter more than fancy buzzwords.
Day-to-day I bounce between SQL Server, SSIS/SSRS, Power BI, PowerShell, and Excel automation.
On the “keeping myself honest” side, I’ve been upskilling in modern dev (distributed systems, gRPC/REST, HTML/CSS/Bootstrap)
and trying to keep my stuff simple, tidy, and maintainable.
- Healthcare BI, reporting, and delivery (real deadlines, real constraints).
- Strong focus on data quality, governance, and getting the basics right.
- Comfortable on the technical side, and with the people side.
Business Intelligence Function Build-out (CUH)
Designed and delivered the hospital's BI capability from the ground up, establishing core data pipelines, reporting standards, and decision support tooling used across clinical, operational, and executive teams.
Infusion Bed Capacity System
Delivered a scheduling solution aligning patient needs with infusion capacity, reducing wasted drug preparation and improving throughput visibility.
Delayed Transfer of Care (DTOC) Intelligence Platform
Implemented a multi-department decision support platform enabling discharge alignment, escalation tracking, and monitoring of delayed discharges.
Multi-Hospital COVID-19 ETL & Reporting Suite
Built and maintained ETL pipelines integrating lab datasets across multiple hospitals, supporting regional and national reporting during COVID response.
Patient Experience Time (PET) Extraction & Reporting
Automated extraction and distribution of PET performance metrics across clinical and executive teams, removing manual reporting cycles.

Outside of work and college, I’m into Linux and home server stuff (Plex, storage, network tidy-ups). I’ve built a few Telegram bots in Python too, just to avoid SSH for quick checks when I’m out and about. I used to mess with Arduino and Raspberry Pi a lot more, but kids’ sports and music lessons are the main hobby now.
- Linux home server setup, storage, backups, tidy networking.
- Plex and media automation (and the occasional “why is this transcoding” moment).
- Telegram bots to trigger actions, check status, and send alerts.
If you’re working on something data-heavy, operational, or just slightly messy and want to chat it through, I’m always open to a conversation.
Most of my work lives in hospital environments, so I’m used to practical constraints, real deadlines, and solutions that actually have to work.... not just look good in a demo.
The easiest way to reach me is on LinkedIn. No pressure, no pitch, just a chat.
I do the odd web build for friends and colleagues. Simple, clean, mobile-first, and easy to maintain.
- Bootstrap sites (fast setup, tidy layout, easy hosting).
- Light integrations (forms, booking links, basic automation).
- Hand-over docs so it doesn’t become a mystery.
- Lead the BI function covering multiple hospitals within the SSWHG region.
- Shape BI delivery strategy, priority pipelines, and engagement with national bodies.
- Represent CUH nationally on BI forums and data governance topics.
- Deliver full-stack BI solutions combining ETL logic, modelling, and dashboards.
- Implement automated data validation and data quality monitoring logic.
- Replace spreadsheets and manual workflows with automated platforms.
- Lead development staff across teams and provide technical mentorship.
- Oversee governance, access, auditability, and quality assurance workflows.
